Recycling at Estancia
Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is committed to ensuring everything possible to alleviate wasted products, materials, and energy, in addition to providing the healthiest local produce for dining options. Here are some initiatives we are taking to be a greener facility:
- Public area bathroom faucets are low H20 consumption
- Guest room toilets are 1.6 gallon per flush low H20 consumption
- Irrigation system is reclaimed H20
- Almost 100% of greenery is recycled into mulch by our landscaping
- Many of our internal light fixtures are T-8's and PL fluorescents
- Many of our external light fixtures are low voltage/wattage fixtures
- Energy Management System that timed on and off HVAC climate control
- We recycle cardboard, glass bottles, fluorescent bulbs, dry cell batteries, Small amounts of copper, brass and aluminum
- Plans are in place to create and upgrade our Hazmat Plan
- Guest room towels have a daily voluntary reuse option program
- All old Terry/Linen is recycled for rags use
- All HVAC/Refrigeration refrigerants are reclaimed, reused and recycled
- Plans are in place to retro fit guest room lighting from incandescent to fluorescent
- Retro fit public area lighting from incandescent to fluorescent
- Reverse Osmosis Drinking Stations for associates limiting paper cup use and plastic bottles
- All department paper recycling program
- Purchase, distribution, and use of recycled cups
- Use of plants that are less "succulent" and require low amounts of water
- Cooking grease is reclaimed and recycled
- Grease trap grease is reclaimed and recycled quarterly
- Closet light sensors
- Irrigation turned off during periods of rain/cold
- Bio-degradable materials used for take-out in restaurants
- EPA compliant recycled tissue used in all guest rooms and public facilities
